Origins: Sherwood Forest, Britain, previously of the Saracen Empire (Robin Hood, BBC 2006)
Age: Late teens
Background: Djaq is a female Saracen, brought as a slave to England during the Crusades to work in the mines. Her real name is Safiya. Her father was a surgeon and something of an alchemist, and she's picked up some of his knowledge. When her brother died, she took his name, Djaq, and disguised herself as a boy. After being freed by Robin Hood and his (not very merry, most of the time) men, she joined his band and stole the hearts of both Allan a Dale, pathological liar and scheming genius, and Will Scarlett, simple peasant from Locksley who can make anything from anything as long as the latter anything is wood. She loves and admires both of them in her own way, and also harbours a little crush on Robin, but is fiercely adamant she can do without the gang and, indeed, she is used to self-reliance. She does not need help from anyone, thank you very much. When faced with the death of a patient, and the patient's love confessions to the leader of the band, her response is to say to the patient: "I love you, you love me, we all love each other -- now drink some wine!". She would like to add that she cannot cook. You may mistake her for a boy at first.
Arrival in Port Mango: She went out looking for herbs one day shortly after Marian did not in fact marry Guy of Gisbourne, ended up sheltering in a small cave and falling asleep there. When she woke up, she was in a completely different place.
